Is $20 million plus a year really worth it?

I ask this question because it is something that Big 12 schools should consider before making its move. Look at OSU for example. The success that they have had in sports over the last 10 years (even though it doesnt come close to measuring up to OU and Texas) has given them the ability to take its athletic program to a whole new level. They have athletic facilities second to none (not talking arenas and stadiums), great student body and Eskimo Joe's! I bring this up because that success is why T. Boone Pickens opened up his check book! If it hadnt been for what little success they have had lately they wouldn't have gotten that money! Is the extra $10-12 million a year over the next 8 years worth that? Now lets look at OU! Is that extra TV worth the millions you will spend in contract buyouts! Now if this all goes down I truly think OU will follow Texas where ever they go but lets look at what is at stake for OU if they do not! Now we all know that OU really really stands for Texas' OUt house! Cause we send all our crap up there! OU is dependent on 3 trips to Texas to keep its football program competitive. Especially the Red River Rivalry! Now lets look at the numbers for the signing class over the last say 5 years! Over that 5 year span OU has signed 54 high school players and played in 15 games in the state! Now OU cant afford to not recruit Texas! They cant afford to not play 3 games a year in the state. How many games in Texas will OU get if they go with A&M to the SEC 1-2 games a year. Thats if Texas doesn't tell them to screw off! We can go thru this all day and night if we want to the bottom line is that all these schools depend on Texas to keep its program alive! Mistakes like this could lead to millions more lost than gained due to lost prestige! With that being said you dont have any choice but to give in to the demands of the University of Texas and realize that they have the keys to the car! With all of that being said this I personally feel is Karma! The Big 12 is getting exactly what it deserves! One of those reasons is Dan Beebe! Get a real leader! Not someone who does what the old Big 8 wants done! Get someone with enough balls to do what is best for the group. Not the one!
